Respected and renowned young designer Melanie Harris Silverman is the proud 3rd generation of 50-year-old couture house, Rose Taft. Started by her grandmother, Melanie is continuing the tradition of manufacturing handcrafted special occasion dresses in the USA.
Melanie and her team- including her mother and mentor Marcia Taft-have designed breathtaking gowns for many celebs, politicians & socialites including former First Lady and Senator Hilary Clinton, Tipper Gore, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Mary Hart, Deidre Hall, Niecy Nash, Julie Moran and countless other high profile personalities. Her collection is coveted by women who demand quality gowns that make a statement.
Mary Hart chose to be "immortalized" at Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum wearing her spectacular red silk taffeta Rose Taft gown that she wore to the 2009 Golden Globe Awards-quite an honor for Melanie and her team.
Melanie has recently launched a new collection under her maiden name, "Melanie Harris" for a younger demographic looking to turn heads in a classic and elegant design. Melanie received numerous requests from retailers and stylists for young couture dresses that are made with impeccable quality and fit. There is a refined elegance, yet hip feel about the Melanie Harris collection that has all of young Hollywood pining for the dresses including Christian Serratos (Twilight) and Jana Kramer (One Tree Hill), Lara Spencer (The Insider), Jill Martin (The Today Show) & a slew of reality stars from The Real Housewives. Her designs have appeared on several commercials, including The Today Show fashion segment that continually runs in the taxicabs of NYC. Most recently, the Melanie Harris collection was selected to appear on TLC's Brides of Beverly Hills & Randy To The Rescue.
Melanie's philanthropic personality has touched many organizations nationally including the Multiple Sclerosis Organization, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs (recently being honored as one of the "100 Outstanding Women of Broward County"), Jafco, Kids in Distress, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation, Epilepsy Foundation, Pediatric Cancer Foundation and The Kellner Pediatric Liver Disease Foundation. In addition to monetary donations on behalf of Rose Taft/Melanie Harris, dresses are lent for functions or gifted to women in need. Giving back to women is of the utmost importance to Melanie and her team.
